Chun Huang

I am a final-year Ph.D. candidate in Physics at Washington University in St. Louis, advised by Alexander Y. Chen.

My research asks how the magnetic environment of a neutron star shapes its X-ray emission, and how that emission can be used to learn about the star’s radius and interior. I combine analytic theory, relativistic forward modeling, Bayesian inference, and scientific computing.

I also lead the CompactObject collaboration and enjoy mentoring researchers as they develop new methods and carry projects through publication.

Background

Before beginning my Ph.D., I studied physics at Central China Normal University and worked remotely with the XPSI group at the University of Amsterdam. I grew up in Jishou, Hunan, and I am the first person in my family to attend college.
